About The Araniko Project

The Araniko Project is the only research institution dedicated to reducing the knowledge gap on Nepal - China relations by using evidence-based and primary sources in the areas of history, politics, society, economics, arts, and culture.

Our newsletter is a blend of historical archives and current affairs. In March 2022, we started it as a blog translating Chinese archives, news and analysis into English in an effort to reduce the lack of Chinese sources and reasoning that has long remained in Nepal. Now, apart from translations we also conduct research, analysis, commentary, events. Much more to come. So do subscribe to The Araniko Project.

The couple behind the newsletter

The newsletter is run by the husband and wife: Raunab Singh Khatri and Aneka Rebecca Rajbhandari. Both have more than 7 years experience of living in China. Raunab is the inaugural PhD student in Enterprise Management at one of China’s oldest and prestigious business school: Guanghua School of Management of Peking University. He previously studied at the Yenching Academy of Peking University. Aneka was the first Nepali to complete her undergraduate degree from Peking University majoring in Political Science and is also currently the Yenching Scholar at the Yenching Academy of PKU.
