The reporter learned from the Tourism Development Bureau of the Tibet Autonomous Region on the 25th that this year, Tibet resumed outbound tourism, as of December, the region's four outbound travel agencies have organized 23 tourist groups, 843 people to travel to Nepal, including guides and staff 41 people.
Wang Xiaodong, deputy secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Development Bureau said that in January this year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China issued a notice to start the resumption of outbound tourism business. After nearly half a year of hard work, the first Tibet outbound tourism group departed from Gyirong Port for Nepal on July 29 and returned safely after the 15-day trip.
He added that with the increase in the number of outbound tour groups, the outbound tourism policy has been well-received by more and more Tibetan people and tourists.
This year's first outbound tour to Tibet was organized by Shannan International Travel Service Co., Ltd. General Manager Yuzhen said that this year's outbound tour business is only for Nepal. The tour route covers four major cities including Kathmandu and Pokhara, involving natural scenery, humanities, and historic sites of interest. Since the international flight from Lhasa to Kathmandu has not resumed, all travelers enter Nepal through land ports, and the tour period is 15 days. Since the beginning of this year, the travel agency has received 8 batches of tourist groups with 299 people. The tourists received are mainly the elderly. At present, people are still signing up for tour groups, and there are plans to open tourist routes to Southeast Asian countries next year.
Wang Xiaodong said that in the next step, the Tourism Development Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region will further strengthen the cultivation of entry-exit tourism, strengthen overseas tourism promotion and publicity, organize timely groups to carry out tourism exchange activities in friendly countries with entry-exit tourism potentials such as Russia, Belarus, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, expand Tibet's outbound tourism destinations in a safe and orderly manner, and strengthen non-governmental tourism exchanges. Further enhance the Tibetan people's sense of benefit, happiness, and satisfaction.
