As the Nepali parliament approved the Nepal-US Millennium Challenge (MCC) agreement under the coercion of the US in February this year, it triggered strong protests and huge controversy. The latest draft of the SPP agreement, allegedly signed by Kathmandu and Washington, has sparked almost one-sided opposition. Some experts have analyzed that the agreement is a "Asia military cooperation agreement"(亚军事合作协议), which not only goes against Nepal's foreign policy of non-alignment, but also helps the US to contain China, and will affect the stability of South Asia. After hearing civil and political opposition to the SPP, Nepal's cabinet met on the evening of June 20 local time and decided not to proceed with the SPP in the country.

Nepal does not want to become a geopolitical battlefield with the US
